Local Post Offices are closed down

Posted by news desk in Local News, 20th August 2008, 7:36pm

The closure of seven Post Offices in south-west Hertfordshire have been confirmed earlier this week.

Three branches in Watford, one in South Oxhey, one in Bushey and two in Rickmansworth will shut following a six-week public consultation that ended in July, during which 2,500 comments were received.

Some 37 Post Offices across South Hertfordshire, South Essex and Buckinghamshire will close in total, as part of plans to secure the long-term future of the service.

The post office network lost more than £200 million in 2006/7, and there are four million fewer customer visits every week compared with two years ago.
In addition to the confirmed closures, another Post Office in Bushey now faces the axe.

The Moatfield Post Office in Harcourt Road is one of two branches to come under scrutiny, following the company's decision to save four branches originally earmarked for closure.

Dates for a public consultation will be announced shortly.

Bradshaw, 145 Bushey Mill Lane, Watford, WD24 7PD
Broadway, 75 Queens Road, Watford, WD17 2QN
Bushey Hall Road, 20 Bushey Hall Road, Bushey, Watford, WD23 2ED
